about me
Summer

You are warm and golden, green and bold.
But you are not a child and not naïve
There is wisdom in your bright blooms
That even in their fullness are aware of their withering.

You are a respite for so many living things
Who can pause in their striving,
Rest on the velvet belly of the earth,
And watch the gentle progress of clouds.

You have always grabbed me by the hand
And sustained me with your great breath.
You have danced me lithely through the fields
Though you knew that even your strength would depart.

Courage is no small thing. It is no small thing
to bear the knowledge of endings.
Summer, you smile at me brightly
But tears gather in the corner of your eyes.
